Meet Arthur Bakopolus: Woodwind teacher at Stage Music Center

Arthur Bakopolus, woodwind teacher at Stage Music Center

Arthur Bakopolus is one of the more sought-after woodwind players in the Boston area. He has his Master’s degree in education and has taught school band, orchestra, chorus, theater and theory classes. He currently is an in demand instrumental music teacher and leads many jazz improv workshops. Arthur also runs the Chelmsford community jazz band. He leads his own groups, AB5, ABQ, Artie Bakopolus trio and the swing band Pendulum.

Arthur regularly performs in various jazz groups in and around eastern MA and in theaters including the Cape Playhouse, the Strand Theater, the Ogunquit Theater and many more. He has performed with Johnny Mathis, the Benny Goodman Tribute Band, the Harry James band, the Jimmy Dorsey Band, the Artie Shaw Band, The Shirelles, the Coasters, Bobby Vinton, Guy Lombardo and more.

Arthur is also an instructional consultant for the Mass Department of Education and to fill in his calendar, he is a busy piano tuner. With over 35 years of teaching experience under his belt, one can most often hear his students say the reason they love studying with him is the obvious passion he has for music and teaching.
