In this fun and engaging class, not only do students learn healthy singing technique and music theory basics, such as solfege and pitch matching, but they also use their vivid imaginations to create their very own play!
With their teacher, students incorporate the music they are learning into plays that they write. Yep, you read that correctly! The students create their masterpiece performance together, encouraging creativity, confidence, and development of group skills!
The students develop their very own script in which they incorporate the music they are learning in class, picked by the instructor. They all decide on a plot that can include those songs and think about characters that could be involved in their chosen plot! They create and choose the characters they will play and students brainstorm situations in which their characters might find themselves. They also think about what their characters might do when they find themselves in those situations. The answer, of course, is often to sing!
In producing their masterpiece, students create and learn basic choreography together, memorize their songs, decide on settings, lines, characters, and plots, and fun is had by all!
In Stage Your Imagination our primary goal is to get children to think outside of the box and use their imagination through the medium of music and theatre. Kids will have the opportunity to express themselves and will learn about the intricacies of performing, such as singing and acting to the audience and projecting their voice so they can be heard. Getting the creativity flowing as they write their own play, students in Stage Your Imagination will become excited about music and performance, as well as likely become more outgoing and sociable!
Our instructors focus on the needs of the students and cater their teaching to those specific needs. In this class particularly, they encourage students to try new things, leave their comfort zone in favor of taking a musical risk, be more confident, and, perhaps most importantly, foster a deep and lasting love of music through a relaxed, fun, and creative environment. By learning and performing in this supportive environment, students develop better performance skills that will influence them in many aspects of life, including public speaking, general confidence, and their ability to participate in group activities.
