Meet Michele Zimmerman: Stage Music Center Violin Teacher

Michele Zimmerman is a multi-genre violinist, vocalist, and songwriter from Durham, North Carolina. She studied at University of North Carolina School of the Arts, getting her undergraduate degree in classical violin performance under the tutelage of Kevin Lawrence. Graduating in spring of 2020, she used months of unanticipated free time to learn mandolin, and develop skills in jazz improvisation, bluegrass fiddle, songwriting, and music production.

She played extensively around North Carolina in 2021 and 2022 before moving to Boston to study contemporary musical arts at New England Conservatory, where she graduated with her master’s degree in May of 2024. She can now be heard performing around New England with several collaborators, including her trio, the Stomp Street Serenaders, whose repertoire includes a unique mix of early jazz, blues, and early 20th century pop music.
