Meet Haeshin Shin: Piano instructor at Winchester Stage Music Center
Pianist Haeshin Shin earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University (D.M.A. in Piano Performance) with her dissertation focusing on the piano music of Russian composer Nikolai Medtner (1880-1951). In 2018, Dr. Shin joined Stage Music Center as a piano instructor.
From professional musical engagements to educational activities and community service at various settings, her international and multi-cultural experiences helped her developing a unique insight into the universal value of music education. Native of South Korea, she has appeared in recitals, concerts, and festivals throughout the US, Russia, UK, Luxemburg, Belgium, Puerto Rico, China, and Korea.
She won 1st prize at American Protégé Concerto Competition, 1st prize at American Protégé Romantic Music Competition, 2nd prize at Richmond Piano Competition, and received an honorable mention at International Competition for Pianists in Memory of Shande Ding and Bradshaw and Buono International Competition. She has performed at Stern Auditorium and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and Tsai Performance Center of Boston University for concert series such as "The Bicentennial Celebration of Franz Liszt’s birth", "Liszt: Années de pèlerinage", and "Claude Debussy's 150th Anniversary". As a collaborative pianist, she was granted a fellowship at Garth Newel Music Center with her piano quartet, and recently went on concert tours in Washington, D.C. including the White House Holiday Performance Talent, Ireland, UK, and Spain with Boston College High School Concert Choir. Haeshin has worked with students at the ages of 4-55 privately, beginner to pre-professional, and taught weekly individual/group lessons to undergrad students at Boston University.
As a guest artist at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, she gave solo and lecture recitals, and provided private lessons to Young Artists Piano Program participants. Haeshin Shin holds a B.M. degree from Seoul National University (Cum Laude) and a M.M. degree from Boston University as a full tuition scholarship recipient. She received the Piano Department Award from BU and has been elected as a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, the national music honor society.
